MERSİN MEDİTERRANEAN GAMES – MODULAR SPORTS FACİLİTİES
- Mersin Mediterranean Games – Modular Sports Facilities
As part of the Mersin Mediterranean Games, one of the world’s major multi-sport events, Spor Sanayi provided turnkey solutions for the event’s grandstand, accommodation, and temporary facility requirements using our own modular and portable systems.
The project included portable grandstands, VIP and protocol grandstands, media and press grandstands, specially designed seating areas for spectators with disabilities, and roof structures installed above the grandstands.
As part of the turnkey project, temporary mobile WC units, media and press centers, catering areas, VIP meeting rooms, and various accommodation and support facilities were also established. The capacity of existing sports halls with approximately 10,000 seats was increased through our temporary modular grandstand systems to meet the spectator and guest requirements of the event.
One of the key features of the project was the emphasis placed on environmental sensitivity alongside demanding operational requirements. In environmentally and historically sensitive areas such as Kızkalesi in Mersin, temporary modular systems were installed without the need for permanent construction. Following the completion of the event, all facilities were completely dismantled and the areas were restored to their original conditions.
Thanks to the demountable and reusable nature of our modular systems, rapid installation and dismantling can be carried out with minimal environmental intervention in sensitive locations such as protected areas, forested regions, lakesides, and coastal areas. This enables temporary facility solutions to be provided without permanent intervention to the natural ground or surrounding environment.
The lightweight structural design of our systems also allows installation and dismantling to be carried out largely using manual labor. As a result, the need for cranes, forklifts, and similar heavy equipment is significantly reduced, accelerating the installation process while minimizing the risk of ground damage.
During the installation and dismantling processes, no permanent structur
